To celebrate the 180th Anniversary of Marine Region of the Hong Kong Police, “180 years: Safeguarding
HK Waters - Community Engagement and Charity Day” will be held at Marine Regional Headquarters
(MHQ) on Saturday the 19th of November. To get things started on the morning of the event the Marine
Police Dragon Boat Team will hold the “Dragon Boat Cross Harbour Charity Parade” which will see the
team and members of uniformed groups paddle Dragon Boats 8km from Kowloon Public Pier, the pier
formerly used when Marine Headquarters was in Tsim Sha Tsui to its current headquarters in Sai Wan Ho.
On arriving at MHQ the weary paddlers will be met by members of various community groups who will be
participating in various 180A commemorative activities all of which will serve to recognize Marine Region's
partnership with the community and how it plays a key role in safeguarding Hong Kong waters.

The charity parade will also serve to raise funds for the Hong Kong Angelman Syndrome Foundation which
provides support to persons suffering from Angelman Syndrome and their families. For the event a limited
edition dragon boat charity singlet has been designed and any donation over HKD$180 will be awarded with
a singlet as a thank you gift. It is hoped that 180K (HKD $180,000) can be raised to mark the 180A of
Marine Region.
If you would like to support the charity event, please contact ATSROs of respective Marine Divisions or the
office of PCRO MPDIST. All donations over HK$100 will be tax deductible.

The Angelman Syndrome is an unusual congenital disease. It is one of the ‘rare diseases’ but the impact on patients and their care-givers is better described as an ‘orphan disease’. Because they are uncommon, care and community resources are lacking, so sufferers are often neglected by society in general. Therefore, support of rare disease patients and their care givers often has to rely on charities and patient support groups.
This is what moves me to support the Hong Kong Angelman Syndrome Foundation through a charity run, with the aim of increasing public awareness and to raise funds for them. I will be participating in the Ultra-trail Tai Mo Shan and running 100mile (162km) with more than 9,000m of elevation. This is equivalent to covering 252km on the flat, within a time limit of 42 hours. Being a runner of less than four years, this is no easy feat and is at least 60 percent more than the Trail Walker and anything I have attempted so far.

This ultra-marathon is in many ways similar to the hard journey faced by those affected by rare diseases. It is a long haul, is both a physical as well as a mental challenge, and requires a lot of support. So many things can go wrong in this long and lonely process. An additional obstacle this year is the COVID pandemic that makes organizing a run and maintaining a charity a lot more difficult. Donations are drastically down by 70%.
So please consider donating and joining me to support the Hong Kong Angelman Syndrome Foundation (HK charity number 91/14491) that not only looks after those affected by this rare disease but also manages the One click Care which is a resource sharing platform for all persons with special disabilities, special needs and their families.

The Hong Kong Angelman Syndrome Foundation was established in June 2015 and officially became a Hong Kong accredited charitable organization on January 7, 2016. It takes non-profit making approach to provide care, treatment opportunities, support services and assistance for patients and their families who suffer from Angelman Syndrome in community. To reflect the spirit of communion and to raise funding for promotion and support work next year, HKASF will hold an Angelman Walk 2018 (Hong Kong Station) event at Hong Kong Disneyland on June 16, 2018 (Saturday). - "Walk Together at Disneyland" is now inviting enthusiastic people from all walks of life to practice or sponsor your friends to participate in this wonderful and meaningful wonderful task!
What is the big task?
Walk with Angels
In order to reflect the spirit of communion, the “companion” activity will pair up support families with disabilities or families with special needs. They will have a morning tour and take lunch together. Not only the latter families feel love and care, at the same time, they can introduce the disease to the supporting families and share their mixed feeling at taking care of the angels. This experience is valuable. Would you like to go together and perform this task and experience communion?
Registration method
1. Applicants can complete the following registration form from now till 16/4/2018, email us or whatsApp to HKASF. After receiving confirmation from us, they can proceed to the next step.
2. The sponsorship form together with the bank deposit receipt and application form will be email or whatsApp on or before 18/5/2018 to HKASF. If you donate by cheque, you can mail it to "Small Angel Resource Centre - Room D, 15th floor, 11-15 Kwai Sau Road, Kwai Chung. Su Tao Industrial and Commercial Center". Please specify AS Walk 2018 on the envelope.
3. The applicant must successfully deposit the fundraising amount (not less than the target amount) on or before the deadline to ensure their eligibility. After we receive the registration and sponsorship form, we will deposit the check and verify the bank deposit receipt within 3 working days.
4. HKASF will send a confirmation by email for successful participants to receive angel blessing bags. If the participant cannot come forward on or before June 13, 2018, please inform us before 5 pm not later than June 13 in order to make alternative arrangements. Otherwise, they will be deemed as having automatically waived their eligibility.
5. The minimum fundraising amount is approximately HK$400 per participant.
6. Tickets cannot not be transferred or resold. If the participants are different from the attendees, please inform HKASF before 18:00 on 8/6.
7. If there is any dispute, HKASF will have the final decision.

Hong Kong Angelman Walk Fundraising 2017
With a blink of an eye, Angelman Walk (Hong Kong station) returns!
One can never forget that just on June 9 last year, we created a miracle, witnessing nearly 800 participants with great tolerance and support walked in fearless spirit and smiles in Pak Shek Kok.
Every year in May and June, AS organizations around the world will organize walking fundraising campaigns to support the organization's operations and AS's research. In response to this AS big event this year, Angelman Walk 2017 (Hong Kong station) will take place from 2 pm to 5 pm on May 14 (Sunday, Mother's Day) at the Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre. It is estimated to take about an hour or so to finish a total length of 1,500 meters around the artificial lake walking trails.
Due to the restrictions in the site, this walk fundraising activity will be represented by the angel families. But we call on all friends who support HKASF to sponsor the angel families. The angel families can team up with the number of participants and the donations unlimited. Neither application form or sponsorship form is needed for this event. A crossed check or bank deposit receipt, specifying "Fundraising of Hong Kong Angelman Walk 2017"on the envelope can be sent to Box 709, Hong Kong Tsuen Wan Post Office. Or one can make donation through HKASF webpage to HKASF account. Donation receipt of more than HK$100 can be used for tax deduction purpose.
The concept of AS Walk organized by HKASF is to lead our little angel families bravely walk into the crowd, share our life with others for social communion. We would not forget our original intention and would adhere to the sincere care of all that care about us. Let us feel the warmth of the sun together on May 14, to breathe fresh air and have a good stretch of body and mind.

* Inspiration Lake is the largest man-made lake in Hong Kong. Lotus, red water lilies and other aquatic plants were planted in the lake. The lake scenery is beautiful and elegant with an artificial fountain able to produce 12 kinds of random changes in the water effect. Next to the lake is the lush grassland, on which you can picnic or walk in the shade of the stroll. During this Christmas, HKASF will collaborate with May’s Cookies, to meet with you in Park Central. Park Central chooses the lovely but lazy Garfield as the Christmas theme this year. Its colorful and joyful decoration is indeed parallel with the booth of Hong Kong Angelman Syndrome Foundation that is full of positive energy. The joyful atmosphere must be able to send to every one of you.
There will be HKASF booth sales every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays in December. A group of angel families will show up to distribute leaflets and souvenirs to promote Angelman Syndrome. More than that, HKASF x May’s Charity Cookies gift boxes are on sale. During the stall exhibition, people who buy the gift box can receive one well- crafted "2017 little angel calendar.
